faxpunk

This is simply my original fiction alternative history universe, my sandbox to play in. The information technologies stopped at the fax machine and a lot of countries look very different in faxpunk. Most of the stories take place in alternative!UK or Finnic countries (alt!Finland or alt!Estonia). There is no one point in time where history diverged from ours and there are no supernatural or magical elements to the worldbuilding. It's just our world, slightly altered.

Most stories take place during modern times (1950s onward) and can be read as standalone, although it may help to understand certain historical events or concepts from one story in order to fully appreciate another. I try to write each story so that a reader doesn't have to read everything to enjoy an individual story.

Since the aim of the first story was to get me to write more smut, a lot of the stories will be Explicit in rating. For the most part there aren't a lot of heavy subjects explored beyond character backstories but I also wouldn't call the universe fluffy.

 Guardiansverse anon wrote a wonderful crossover story about Festus Detrich and Edgar Forqand meeting because they are the WORST with one another. It can be found here.

It got me thinking how Edgar would definitely get in trouble politically for such nonsense and I wrote this to add to political worldbuilding. Also writing Edgar lie his way out of shit is just very entertaining. And I daresay he's quite good at it.

You set up a world just to write some porn and suddenly, dates everywhere!

Since there are stories thought up but not published yet, or not even written yet, I will add to this post as they emerge from my brain and get put somewhere, most likely meme and then ao3.


So at present consideration, the timeline looks roughly like this:

• 1896 - Aina Mielotar and Impi Ruskatar go the bear skull tree to retrieve Aina's father's gun.
• 1923 - Armas Parru meets Koit Kadakas in Carelia for the first time during a fieldwork expedition.
• 1954 - Mihail Olegvich Tsar, the Heir to the Empire of Slavonia, starts writing letters to Mr Antoine Lertre
• 1955 -  The Events at Dreskda take place.
• 1960 - The London Fire
• 1961 - Edgar Forqand and Barnaby Rheaw meet at university.
• 1963 - Thirnbush's Law passes
• 1964 - Edgar and Barnaby break up.
• 1964 - The Halm's decree on stopping the advancement of information technologies and most technological advancement gets passed.
• 1965 - Edgar leaves his job at the lobbyist group and starts working for Mr Gregory Tamfer, an MP for the Liberal Party
• 1969 - Renowned linguist Dr Koit Kadakas passes away before receiving the letter from his old friend Armas Parru.
• 1978 - The attack in Livonia by Slavonia begins, known later as the Livonian War.
• 1979 - Edgar and Barnaby begin the letter exchange as Acgard Barnes and Benfred Wilf, meet and fall back in love.
• 1980 - Edgar unseats then-HC Tamfer as High Chancellor by becoming the Liberal Party's leader.
• 1981 - Edgar wins his first election as HC, the first of three election victories for the Liberals. 
• 1985 - Konstantin Kivikko tries to catch the amber thief in Hiidenlinna, Haem, with the unasked for help from Aestian private eye, Ergo Tamm.
• 1985 - Edgar and Barnaby adopt a child, a newborn named Eleanor.
• 1992 - Peter Cuypers meets Simon Plim in a Londinium support group meeting. 
• 1993 - Matilda Sofia Josefina Grimelda Henriksdotter, the third princess of Sweden, escapes the country to Slavonia and meets James 'Jamie' O'Connor, an agent from the Federates of America. 
• 1993 - After Matilda's escape, her fired bodyguard Jonas Gustafsson gets hired as a bodyguard by the crown prince of Haem, Maunu Joosepinpoika.
• 2004 - Eleanor Forqand begins attending university in Banburre and meets Jonathan Lee, as well as Gram Anderson, Tom Vicanus and Malla Peltola. 
• 2006 - Eleanor Forqand visits her Londinium home with her friend Jonathan, who meets her fathers Edgar and Barnaby Forqand for the first time.

Expect me to mess up somewhere or for the timeline to get more and more convoluted as new stories drop but this is where I am at present and I just wanted it to put it down digitally somewhere besides my own files.
