The Forqand boy was twenty-five and eager for learning. What annoyed Gregory Tamfer was that Edgar wasn't bending like a young willow. He stood firm.

"What really happened at Dreskda?"

Gregory smiled. "You've been reading conspiracy theories? I was the ambassador and we had to fix the power plant."

"I just found it curious, the timing, " Edgar said, diverting his gaze.

"You know, the English never meddle in other nations," Gregory told him. "Including dictatorships such as Slavonia."

"Of course," Edgar said, but with a tone that implied he knew better.

The boy wasn't a fool, but Gregory held the cards.
